  • Rear-ended someone need help?

I was about 15 feet back but traveling at 30-35mph and having only front brakes (ford focus) was not enough to bring me to a complete stop therefore causing the rear end. The damage on their vehicle was nothing but a few scratches of paint found on the lower part of her Ford Edge 2015, a part which is universal for all Ford Edge of that year. That is the back story, now to the main problem. I crashed in my parents car, and I was found to be excluded on the insurance policy, so that would mean that the insurance would file a letter to whom i had crashed with stating that they will not cover any damage. The person whom I had crashed into is now sending me her estimate through text, she is looking to get $1500 out of it. That is an amount that I feel is not worth the damage I had actually did to her vehicle, so i had offered her to settle at $1000. She has not responded. P.s. The insurance companies never took down a statement from me about the accident, there was no pictures taken besides one of my license plate from the other driver, it was night time and my car is black so even if there was a picture taken the image would be hard to depict. Do I do the right thing and pay her the full total, or do I take another approach fix my own car with that money and get myself a lawyer, would I have a chance of winning or am I set for failure?

  • Best excuse for a broken windshield on the inside?

I was arguing with a passenger in my car and they punched and broke my windshield. I have an appointment on Wednesday to get it fixed. I think I’ll be able to hide it from my mom and dad, but if they see it I don’t want to tell them who did it and why. I was thinking of saying a rock hit it but it’s on the inside. What’s a good excuse if I’m caught?

  • Could this have caused engine damage?

I don't know if my ex-girlfriend mess with my car and loosen my oil filter or if the last mechanic didn't tighten it enough it is hard to say. Either way I was driving down the road in my 2008 Camry and every once in awhile when I would make a sharp left turn the master emergency light would flash on for Split Second... but it flashed on and off so fast I didn't even see what the message was. Then a couple days later it flashed on again after not having flashed on for a while and it said low engine oil pressure. I immediately pulled over and saw that there was no oil on the dipstick so I put in about 3 or 4 quarts and then everything was fine after that it has been through one oil change since then and I have not had any issues or low oil.... So far I have driven 5000 miles since the incident I do have a bad wheel bearing going bad but that has nothing to do with the engine but I'm just wondering if that incident could have damage the engine I mean I know already I mean I know already it's not good but is it really that bad?

  • What can cause a light bulb to prematurely blow out?

Best answer: It can be a couple reasons.
1)If the bulb is a halogen bulb and you touched it with your fingers as you installed it. High power Halogen bulbs such as in headlights are not supposed to be touched by skin as body oils somehow affect the glass. Most halogen bulbs tell you not to handle them directly as you install them as it will shorten their life. When changing them use a tissue or clean cloth or cotton gloves to handle the bulb and install it.
    2) Problem with manufacture. You can get a bulb that blows because something went wrong during manufacture. Maybe there was a thin part of the filament that could not handle the power for the full expected life. Maybe the glass bulb was faulty and air got inside the bulb allowing the filament to burn up at a weak point. Only the other day I bought 2 light bulbs to replace a blown bulb in my lounge room. The second time I turned the light on the new bulb blew so obviously there was a fault with the manufacturing of it.

  • What does it mean if an automatic FWD car sometimes refuses to move forward but will reverse?

This particular Holden Viva (Daewoo Lacetti) sometimes refuses to move forward when put into drive but will move when put in reverse. We also felt a shudder from the car when it was cruising at highway speeds. If it helps at all, we once revved the enging hard on park just before we put it in drive when the transmission was working.

  • Anyone with car experience please help? ?

Okay so I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 I was driving tonight and with ice being on the road i was trying to drive really slow. While I was driving my car was making a horribly loud noise and Im not sure what is was. ( I was on the way to get it checked) When I drove up a hill I stopped at a stop sign and when i tried to accelerate my gas pedal was on the floor and still would not move. My car quickly started rolling backwards down the hill and i wrecked my car into a stop sign. I turned my engine off now my car will not turn over, I tried jump offs & it sounds like the engine is trying to turn over but will not crank. My car is stuck in a bad neighboorhood and I really need help. Any advice would be great.

  • Is it ok if i drive an old car like this?

so long story short, some guy hit my beater car at night fairly hard. the drivers side fender, both doors, and the rear fender and rear bumper all have damage on them. i dont know much about cars so i just took it to a mechanic and he just straightened the fender a bit and ziptied the bumper in. the guy that hit my car just drove off and since i only have liability insurance they cant do anything about it. the car is a 1997 toyota corolla. so im not gonna spend alot to fix it. i just told the mechanic to check it out and see if i can still drive it. he told me i can. and of course its not worth rebuilding a 20+ year old car that already has rust on it. also im not sure but the front wheel may have taken some damage because the hubcap fell off. im still worried it if could have suspension damage? the car still drives fairly straight. maybe pulls a tiny bit left if i just let the steering wheel go. im really cheap and i dont have much money. is it ok if i drive it like that?

I'm considering driving for Uber on my spare time. Is it worth it? Do you actually make money after gas expenses and the wear and tear on your vehicle? Have you had many bad experiences with riders that were jerks? Please include how often you do it and the general area you do it in. I'm in northeast PA.

  • Why is my steering wheel shaking?

When I drive slow my steering wheel shakes. When I drive fast it still shakes. Doesn’t shake when taking a turn. Doesn’t shake the Whole car- only the steering wheel. SOMETIMES it will barely shake. Shakes when braking but i know that’s my rotors. I am thinking alignment cuz I have 5 huge speed bumps I go over a billion times a day but not sure. Just hoping for more options/suggestions from someone more car savvy. Thanks!
